School Safety

Important Notice to Students and Parents
Under Texas law (Educ. Code § 37.218), our district must inform you annually of the serious consequences of sharing visual material that depicts a minor engaged in sexual conduct.

Legal consequences may include:

  • Criminal charges – including misdemeanors or felonies – for transmitting, possessing or promoting such images or videos.

  • School disciplinary actions – including removal from programs or extracurricular activities, suspension, expulsion or transfer.

  • Long-term impacts – such as loss of educational and employment opportunities, permanent online record of the material, and exposure beyond the original audience (due to the nature of the Internet).

Students and parents should understand:

  • “Visual material” includes photos, videos or other electronic images that depict sexual conduct or intimate parts of a minor.

  • Consent of the depicted person, or of the recipient, does not always offer legal protection.

  • The material may be shared, forwarded or replicated widely and cannot always be retracted.

If you have questions or believe a student has been involved in such sharing, please contact your campus administrator immediately.
